China University of Geoscience at Beijing

China University of Geosciences (CUG) has a history of rock climbing and mountaineering sports in China and has cultivated several well-known climbers like Wang Yongfeng and Li Zhixin, two Chinese who have climbed Seven Summits.

The university has two campus, one in Beijing and the other in Wuhan of Hubei Province. Beijing Campus is located on Xueyuan Road, Haidian District, surrounded with many prestige universities, neighboring Zhongguancun, which is famous for the high-tech industry.

In 2006, the climbing wall at Beijing campus was rebuilt since it first appeared in 1997. With a total area of around 1400 square meters, the new wall has become one of the biggest in Asia.

The routes for competiton fully meets international standard:

  • wall for difficulity competition is 18 x 3.6 meters
  • wall for speed competiton is 15 x 3.6 meters

70% of the area is for training routes.
