Starting from Shanhaiguan on the east coast and ending at Jiayuguan in the west Gobi Desert, the Great Wall has an approximate length of 6,700 kilometers, known to the Chinese as the 10,000 Li Chang Cheng (One Li in China equals a half kilometer).
